Review: The book does a great job of introducing all the characters and and the slow burn of their catastrophic situation. You get to know each one and learn what makes them tick and of course, some are are going to die. This is a zombie story.

There is one negative and that is the author's use of bathos. Every character has some joke to tell at the worst time and most of the time aren't funny. I could do with out it.

It's otherwise a seriously strong, well told, zombie story. I greatly enjoyed it overall.

Review: Infected Planet by Dennis Yates @YatesScribe

Lazarus is also home to a spectrum of deadly creatures who have clawed out a living in the harsh desert, and they don’t take kindly to visitors. Not to mention the gangs of vicious bandits roving the land in search of anyone to kill and steal from.

As descendants of tough pioneers who first colonized Lazarus -- Jade, Ramos and Brand use their skills and knowledge to navigate a world now being ravaged by a zombie virus.

Review: This is a zombie story, need I say more? I went in knowing this and so was not disappointed. Neither should you if you choose to read this and please do if your a fan of the genre. Yates' writing style is fairly cliche due to the natural of zombies. There are some points in the narrative that really confused me. I think Yates is trying to be funny, witty, comedic? If so, he gives no indication by the narration or dialogue that the character is be wise ass. It just comes off weird. For instance, two characters quickly jump from trying to kill one another to politely introducing themselves.

Not a lot of instances of this but enough for me to mention to you dear reader. I can over look these hiccups and just embrace the zombie chase and I believe so could you. Check it out if the genre is to your taste...for brains.

Review of Slimy Underbelly (Dan Shamble Zombie P. I.) by Kevin J. Anderson @THEKJA

Review: I came across this little gem while I was perusing the audio book collection at my local library. The name caught my eye and so I had to turn it over and read the summary and I was hooked. It has everything I enjoy; zombies, humor, crime and detectives. I have a 40 minute commute to work and I need entertainment. Anderson's book was exactly what I needed. I was laughing through out the story. The depth of curious and odd characters was just awesome. I was swapping cds as fast I as I could, eager to hear what happened next. And a lot does happen, three major stories are juggled with ease and happily come together to tie the whole book with a big bright happy bow. I have not read/listened to a book as funny as Slimy Underbelly. 
I must add that Phil Gigante read this book beautifully. Many can read a book out loud but Gigante performs and tells a story. He gives every character their own voice and identity. It made this book ever more enjoyable.  
I highly recommend picking this book up. It is extremely entertaining and immensely fun.

REVIEW:

Aftereffects: Zombie Therapy by Zane Bradley is a very fast paced story. So much calamity happens that I found it hard to stop reading. Client after client visits Dr. Frenzel with their story of what they did while infected. It's gruesome, hair raising and heart breaking to hear what the infected did and how it changed their lives. It's a real twist that the infected are cured and seeking therapy but the rest of the story follows the zombie story model.
The main story revolves around Dr. Frenzel seeking the infected responsible for his wife's death. One by one he inches closer to finding the one who pulled her from the car and those who eventually ate her. Gruesome but true.
I liked Bradley's style of writing. It was fast paced and full of detail. I could imagine exactly in my mind what was going on all the time. Bradley kept me interested from start to finished and left me wanting more. There is a plot that was not resolved in my opinion but the ending allows it to be unresolved. That's what zombies do, they destroy your life plans and drag you to hell. They don't leave much room for job advancement or weddings.
This is a great book for those who love zombies and action books. Give it a read.

Just a Secretary: This story is about Gloria and Jerry from David's office building. They try to escape the building, but get caught by a character that plays a big part in Deadlocked 3.

The Getaway: When David leapt from the billboard into the Everland River, he emerged only to be smacked on the head by a boat that was being chased by the police in the pontoon. This story explains who that was, and why he was running.

Batting Average: William and his son, Billy, have been protecting their salvage yard ever since the outbreak of the zombie apocalypse. Moments before they discover David on their beach, William sits back and enjoys a soda with his son who he is afraid he'll lose soon.

Love Letter: A note that Laura wrote to David after the events at the end of Deadlocked. This letter technically should be part of Deadlocked Broken Pieces Volume 2, but I thought it fit better here.

Also included in Broken Pieces are a couple of short stories that are not from the Deadlocked Universe. The first, The Summoner and the Prey, is from the Vampire's Prey series and is a unique story to this book. Also in this volume is The Body Farm. This is a wholly original story about… well, you'll just have to wait and see! Let me just say that it has a couple of my own personal favorite horror scenes that I've ever written.
