Time is running out.

With the pending implosion of the grand old Las Vegas hotel/casino, the Desert Palace, an eleven-year-old mystery of stolen money remains unsolved.

Newspaper reporter Nedra Dean feels the pressure to use every means she can to make this dramatic moment in Las Vegas history her biggest scoop, one she hopes will catapult her to big-time journalism at CNN.

Celebrity maitre d’ Eduardo only wants to reconcile his estranged family before his forced retirement.

Hotel/casino manager John Cusamano schemes to find the money and run away with the love of his life, his boss’s wife.

Elvis impersonator Hector Deatle and star showgirl Candy Bybee are also hot on the trail of the stolen millions.

No one seems to care that the money is rumored to be cursed—everyone who has touched it has died a horrible death. Now cocktail waitress Linda Mayo’s nine-year-old daughter—after secretly finding the money—suffers from a terminal, flesh-eating disease.

And somewhere within the walls of the Desert Palace is hidden that six million dollars, which owner “Crazy” Foxy Craig will do anything to find before the walls come tumbling down.

Learn Me Goodest by John Pearson @learnmegood

Free for a Limited Time, 7/4-6/20. Click Now on the Cover Photo. First there was Learn Me Good, the (sort of, kind of, mostly) true story about a first year teacher learning the ropes. Next came Learn Me Gooder, the story of an experienced teacher who should know better making first-year teacher mistakes. Now, as the third book in the series, Learn Me Goodest enshrines the series alongside beloved and revered trilogies like Star Wars, The Godfather, and Beverly Hills Chihuahua.

Jack Woodson, the engineer-turned-teacher (and future Dancing with the Stars champion), is back for another school year's worth of emails with his pal and former colleague, Fred Bommerson. Join Jack as he navigates the tricky maze of overly-distracted students, administrators with bullhorns, and a wife dealing with her own classroom situations.

Can he convince the class hypochondriac that the school is not crawling with Ebola? Will he live up to the expectations of the crotchety old man inhabiting the body of one of his students? Are there any special benefits to be received from the self-proclaimed "Mayor of Pizza Town" in his homeroom? With subject lines including, "Here Comes Money Boo Boo," "Snakes on an Inclined Plane," and "The Seven Habits of Highly Infectious People," Learn Me Goodest will have you laughing with each new chapter.

Addiction by Vivian K. Wood @VivianKWood

Free for a Limited Time.

4.7 Stars

It started innocently enough. Beautiful Harper gave Sean those eyes… those eyes that meant, yes, take me. But Harper didn’t know Sean’s secrets… She didn’t know that he liked it rough.

More than rough. He liked to dominate. To punish. To degrade. It was the only way that the black hole in his soul wouldn’t swallow him up.

He would push her a little too far, and she would run. They all ran, eventually.

But that’s not what happened... when he put his hands around her throat and squeezed, Harper moaned. When he told her to stay away, she didn’t listen, misbehaving until she got spanked. When he took out the handcuffs, there was excitement in her eyes, mixed with a little fear.

The doe-eyed redhead liked it. More than that, she wanted it. She said so, time and again.

That’s the thing about sexy strangers, though… you never know what they’re hiding. And Harper is carrying a burden so heavy that even Sean’s secrets pale in comparison.

Review of Slimy Underbelly (Dan Shamble Zombie P. I.) by Kevin J. Anderson @THEKJA

Summary: There's something fishy going on in the Unnatural Quarter. Bodies are floating face-down, the plumbing is backing up, and something smells rotten—even to a zombie detective like Dan Shamble. Diving into the slimy underbelly of a diabolical plot, Dan comes face-to-tentacles with an amphibious villain named Ah'Chulhu (to which the usual response is "Gesundheit!"). With his snap-happy gang of gator-guys—former pets flushed down the toilet—Ah'Chulhu wreaks havoc beneath the streets. While feuding weather wizards kick up storms and a gang of thieving lawn gnomes continues their reign of terror, Dan Shamble is running out of time—before the whole stinking city goes down the drain.…

Review: I came across this little gem while I was perusing the audio book collection at my local library. The name caught my eye and so I had to turn it over and read the summary and I was hooked. It has everything I enjoy; zombies, humor, crime and detectives. I have a 40 minute commute to work and I need entertainment. Anderson's book was exactly what I needed. I was laughing through out the story. The depth of curious and odd characters was just awesome. I was swapping cds as fast I as I could, eager to hear what happened next. And a lot does happen, three major stories are juggled with ease and happily come together to tie the whole book with a big bright happy bow. I have not read/listened to a book as funny as Slimy Underbelly.
I must add that Phil Gigante read this book beautifully. Many can read a book out loud but Gigante performs and tells a story. He gives every character their own voice and identity. It made this book ever more enjoyable.
I highly recommend picking this book up. It is extremely entertaining and immensely fun.

Captain's Day by Terry Ravenscroft @terryrazz

Captain's Day

Jan 3 and 4, 2013

At Sunnymere Golf Club meticulous plans put in place by club captain Henry Fridlington and his good lady wife Millicent ought to have guaranteed that his Captain's Day would be the best day of his life. However Henry has recently enforced a strict 'no swearing on the golf course' policy, a policy which has not gone down at all well with the membership - and a policy which is largely instrumental, along with more than a little help from Henry himself, in ensuring that far from being the best day in his life his Captain's Day turns into the very worst day of his life.

Dreaming of an Undead Christmas by Dane Hatchell

Dreaming of an Undead Christmas

Christmas just wouldn't be the same without a zombie wandering the hall in the dead of night.

This year, you can wait for Santa by the fireplace curled up to two undead tales designed to fill you with more chills and thrills than ice filled underwear.

"The Last Noel" is an action packed extravaganza where Santa arrives and finds a small town engulfed in undead madness. It's not over once he leaves the town, as the plague of all plagues follows him to the North Pole. Elves, proton blasters, and androids clash as Christmas struggles to survive.

"It Just Doesn't Taste Like Christmas" begins as children are waiting for a visit from a Department store Santa. He brings more than 'Christmas cheer' to spread as the dead begin to walk on Christmas Eve. Those that survive take refuge in a remote family camp, where fate brings lost love ones together.

The combined stories total 12,500 words. Excerpts from Resurrection X: Zombie Evolution published by Post Mortem Press are included.

Just Add Salt by Jinx Schwartz

Just Add Salt (Hetta Coffey Mystery Series (Book 2))

Hetta Coffey is a woman with a yacht, and she's not afraid to use it!

Hetta, a globe-trotting engineer with attitude, a penchant for trouble, and a yacht, is back, and this time she s steering us into hot Mexican waters.

Miffed that vacation plans with her chronically absent boyfriend Jenks Jenkins have gone awry, she accepts a job in Baja. So what if she and her friend Jan are spectacularly unqualified to take her yacht on a thousand mile cruise in the eastern Pacific Ocean in the middle of hurricane season? Hiring a handsome, if somewhat fishy captain for the trip might keep them off the rocks, but probably won t do the same for her future with Jenks. Meanwhile, a little eye candy on board can t be all bad.

Hetta s unmanageable independence impels her to tackle the very profitable, if environmentally and politically incorrect project south of the border. True to form, her irreverent nature and disregard for danger soon swamps her in a sea of inconvenient bodies, illegal aliens, a pesky whale, and a menacing Mexican machinator. And without her usual arsenal of firepower.

Set sail for Baja Mexico s Magdalena Bay as Hetta Coffey leads us once more into a morass of intrigue that will keep you laughing, breathless, and wanting more.

To quote Lord Byron, Hetta would "much rather sink beneath the shock than moulder piecemeal on the rock."

Tastes Like Human by Christopher Lombardo and Noel Boivin @thesharkguys

Tastes Like Human: The Shark Guys' Book of Bitingly Funny Lists

Humor writers Noel Boivin and Chris Lombardo follow up their definitive compendium of drunken feats, The Man Who Scared a Shark to Death (Penguin, 2007), with Tastes Like Human: The Shark Guys' Book of Bitingly Funny Lists.

Here the authors, who one reviewer of their first book called "fast and funny with the facts, without the morality", present a completely new and unapologetically irreverent take on the list book genre.

Tastes Like Human answers questions people didn't even know they wanted answers to like: Who are the Top Horniest Cult Leaders of All Time? What are the Top 10 Reasons Why You Should Never Return Things? Which incidents qualify as the Top Acts of Karaoke-Related Violence?

All of that and much more, including etiquette tips on matters as diverse as how to use an ATM machine without seeming like a complete prick, a guide to conduct when meeting Queen Elizabeth, and fighting suggestions the next time your mouth makes an online payment for which there are insufficient funds in your credit account (ass, in keeping with the analogy) to pay for.

Chris and Noel, AKA, "The Shark Guys" are the creators of the popular humor site TheSharkGuys. Links from their site have appeared on dozens of popular websites including Mental Floss, Sports Illustrated, Cracked, IMDb, and FARK.

The Adventure Tournament by Nicholas Andrews

The Adventure Tournament (The Adventurers)

This is the debut novel of Nicholas Andrews. The Adventure Tournament is a comedic fantasy, chock full of action, adventure, humor and heart.

With the kingdom of Bolognia under attack by independent forces of random malcontents, it's time to send out the army to deal with these troublemakers, right? No, first there's money to be made! Send out the adventurers, those rogues who wander the countryside in search of fame and treasure, and take up all the good seats at the local pubs. Then, organize brackets, stage it for the public's entertainment, offer a prize and call it The Adventure Tournament.

Remy Fairwyn is a ne'er-do-well academic who really wants to become an adventurer. When he hears of the tournament, he jumps at the opportunity, only to find himself out of the frying pan and in the fire. Add ingredients like corrupt organizations, professional wrestlers, narcoleptic thieves, drama kings and malfunctioning magical minutia, and his venture quickly becomes a recipe for disaster. Nevertheless, he blunders his way into being the captain of his own team. Now he can follow his dream, but still has to contend with obstacles such as tournament organizers whose motives may not be clean, an overbearing father holding him to academic pursuits, and his own nonsensical noggin, which is better suited for a pack mule than a dashing hero. Still, he's determined to become the biggest badass warrior to ever wield a large piece of wood.

As the competition heats up, Remy discovers that the tournament itself could be putting the kingdom in danger, and it's up to him to uncover the truth before destruction consumes all he holds dear.
