When creature-of-habit news editor Jenny McBeth is suddenly given a coveted promotion she is not qualified for, she finds herself thrust into a motley news crew and sent to an island off the coast of Australia. Her task: to hunt down the truth behind the British Royal family’s disappearance, whose plane lost contact over the uncharted territory. Shortly after arriving, the group realizes something is amiss, and soon it is they who become the hunted in a struggle of deception and survival.

Offshore, a group of thieves aboard a luxury cruise ship must escape to the island, unleashing unforeseen horrors; for what was once thought to be nothing more than fiction is very, very real as a well-intentioned medical experiment casts a novel virus upon the world, rapidly spreading among the island’s native tribe. A battle humankind has never known has begun, and a cure must be found before all succumb to the infected.

Adam's Reign by Jonathan Macnab @fictionreborn1

Free for a Limited Time, Click Now on the Cover Photo.

In a time of myth, angels and demons wage war for the souls of mankind. When giants and dinosaurs roam the earth and all the world is clothed in perpetual springtime, man lives for hundreds of years, forever growing either in righteousness or in evil. In these days, there are few who remember where they have come from, few who keep hold of the one true God who wrought the world. For those who do, the blinders are ripped off and they see the truth: a world at war. Tucked just behind the veil of sense experience, wars rage and captives are taken as kingdoms collide and man is caught in the middle, a part of the struggle but unaware of his role.

One such man, Methuselah, the oldest man alive, finds his family caught up in the conflict of the age, the battle for the survival of the human race. In this fight against the forces of darkness and the deep wounds of their own souls, they will face great sacrifice and tragedy if they hope to reach the reward. Some of them will not make the journey, and those who do will never be the same. If they are to succeed they will need hope, which - in ancient earth - is a scarce commodity.

In the pages of this book, much like life, you will find truth amidst fabrication, silver covered in dross. You will find yourself caught up in an epic set in a very real time in human history, populated with real people who lived, loved, and lost. Yet, you will doubt the words even as you read them, because the truth, sometimes, is harder to believe than a lie.

Review - 314 by A.R. Wise

Alma Harper has been trying to forget what happened in Widowsfield 16 years ago. She has a good life as a music teacher now, and might rekindle her relationship with her one true love. However, the number 314 haunts her, and threatens to bring her back to the day that her brother disappeared. When a reporter shows up, just days before March 14th, Alma realizes that her past is coming back to haunt her. What happened on March 14th, at 3:14, 16 years ago? No one but The Skeleton Man can remember.

Review - I liked this story. It caught my interest. I am not very invested in the characters but the story line has me. At times it feels like a cross between a Scooby Doo mystey and Blair Witch. There were intense moments of monologue that got me to giggle. The very end, it felt to me like a game show decision that must be made by the contestant. It didn't feel life threatening, it was comical.

May be it's my own sensibility not trust a demonic enity as far as I can throw them, but, dumb characters do. Why in the world would anyone believe what a demon told them anyway. There is no demonic honor system.

Despite these problems, I genuinely liked the story. Will I continue with the series? No. The first one was enough. I enjoyed it and time to move on.

Struggling to control the murderous appetite that fuels her new abilities, this budding paranormal warrior must find a way to accept her new condition and learn to trust her angel-hunting brothers as she joins them in their fight against the powerful and destructive creatures.

Review - Dark Ride by P.G. Kassel @PGKassel

Some criminals have all the luck, but Marty’s is about to run out…
Marty Wedlow needs one last score before he can skip town. It’s only a matter of time before two thugs he swindled point a finger… and their guns in his direction. But even when Marty is brought to the police station for his latest crime, he’s not worried. Marty is incredibly lucky.

After dodging the long arm of the law yet again, Marty looks for another illicit payday at a local amusement park. What he finds instead is a mysterious stranger who prophesies that his lucky days are running out. He ignores the warnings as he pursues a vicious conquest. But good fortune is a wheel, and Marty is about to find out what happens when it spins in the other direction.

Dark Ride is a supernatural thriller in the vein of The Twilight Zone. If you like eerie amusement parks, pulse-pounding page-turners, and a touch of the paranormal, then you’ll love P.G. Kassel’s electrifying story.

Review - A short novella that could easily have been fleshed out more. The police character were one dimensional and not very bright. They've been after Marty Wedlow for a while but he always outsmarted them.

What was interesting, to be introduced to Marty as some kind of anti-hero and slowly revealed to be a real scum bag. The police are definitely incapable of bringing him to justice but Marty finally meets justice in a horrific manner. My favorite line from the book is this, "He ignored God and God's ways his entire life, and now it was not God reaching for him but Satan." It sums up Marty in one sentence.

It's a quick fun read with not a lot of meat on it's bone but yet still a tasty literary snack.

Review: The Awakening (The Elders Trilogy Book 1) by TL Travis @tltravis1

Synopsis: In The Awakening, book 1 of The Elders Trilogy, Jessica Cartright has come of age. On top of being new to adulthood and all it encompasses; her nightly dreams are haunted by a faceless man guiding her deeper into the darkness. Fight or flight mode ensues, but she’s trapped. When she’s finally reunited with her first love, her dreams start becoming a reality. Is this a coincidence or are they somehow linked? When these two worlds collide, she fears for her life but finds there’s nowhere left to run.

Review: I was genuinely interested in the second half of this story. It's an interesting story arc. The second half is really where the action is. It then runs out of gas by the ending. The ending of Book 1 falls into a easy methodical tying of loose ends. The latter half is still well written. I feel it could have been even better. If we learned anything from Game of Thrones, the people closest to you are last people you should trust.

My biggest hurtle was Travis' decision to trust a supporting character that betrays a main character. No matter what promises are made or how the character is written to redeem themselves. I, the reader, will not forgive as easily as literary characters.

Finally, I was surprised coming from an author known for erotica, that this story is as tame as it was, not that the author shies away from descriptions or sex acts. What Travis does do is rush through the sex acts and straight to the after glow. I would classify this story as mature romance. This is novella is low on the arousal meter but high on the story line meter. A good story for a quick read.

You can buy it today by following the link above.
