The Smell of Leather by OJ Connell

The Smell of Leather (The Case Files of Edgar Sullivan #1)

The veil that divides the worlds of the living and the dead-- a fixture which has largely shielded mankind from the supernatural throughout history-- has been known occasionally to diminish. Due to such fluctuations, human beings are sometimes accosted by phantoms and other curious sorts from the shadows...

While investigating a series of strange occurrences at a neighbor's home, paranormal investigator Edgar Sullivan uncovers details concerning the house's eerie past.

In the 1970's, 17-year-old Natalie May committed suicide in the house. Her spirit has remained trapped within the home for more than three decades and has recently begun to manifest in strange ways. If the house's owners are to live in peace, Sullivan will have to find a way to exorcise her.

The spirit of a suicide victim can be difficult to oust, however. Sullivan will have to go to great lengths to sever the ties that bind Natalie to the property and will learn, perhaps too late, her true reason for lingering in the world of men.
